Child Assault Arrest
Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A man is arrested for two counts of Assault in the second degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
On July 27th, 2011, the Endicott Police, arrested Jermaine J. McGinnis (no permanent address), age 29, for two counts of Assault in the second degree, class D felonies and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, class A misdemeanors. McGinnis
was arrested as a result of an investigation into an incident that occurred on July 9th, 2011 at 214 Washington Ave. in Endicott.
Police accuse McGinnis of intentionally holding the hands of his two year old son and the hand and foot of his three year old son under scalding hot water causing severe burns.
Police say both children are being treated at the Burn Center at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Also charged in connection with this incident is the mother of both children, Janette A. Parson, age 23, of 17 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child for failing to seek immediate and appropriate medical care for the children.
The children have been placed in the care of the Tompkins County Child Protective Services.
McGinnis was taken into custody by the Sullivan County Sherriff’s Office in Monticello, NY on a warrant issued by the Village of Endicott Court and then arraigned in the Village of Endicott Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
Parson was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Endicott Court at a later date.
